Pearl JewelryPearls are organic. They are the only gemstone born of a living organisim. Pearls are a product of some species of oysters and other shellfish. Other than an inintial cleaning Pearls require no enhancement, they are born with a shimmering iridescence, luster and soft inner glow. Unlike any other gem on earth, there production has virtually no effect on the earth’s ecosystem. Cultured Pearls are considered an agriculture. Based on weather conditions some years produce a finer quality than others. The amount of salt in the water, temeperature of the water and other subtleties all affect the charecteristics of the pearl.
